Off The Path: Intimate Wineries of Windsor-Essex County

Summertime is here, the sun is shining, and COVID-19 restrictions are loosening. That means more of us are maybe thinking a little less about the Windsor real estate market, houses for sale Windsor, and Windsor homes. Instead let’s take a look at a great way to relax and unwind on a weekend right here in our own backyard. The Greater Windsor Area is home to the well known EPIC Wineries scattered throughout Windsor, Amherstburg, Pelee, Kingsville, and Leamington. While the usual big name wineries like Cooper’s Hawk, Sprucewood, and Mastronardi are of course fantastic stops, we want to focus in on maybe some of the smaller more quiet and intimate wineries you can go to. Dancing Swallows Winery
- Located in Amherstburg, Ontario, this family-owned farm boasts an outdoor tasting lounge filled with umbrellas and muskoka chairs so you can sit back and relax. Head there in the evenings, and you may even catch them starting a fire, and enjoy a tasting and sunset over the property.
Aleksander Estate Winery
- Located in Ruthven, Ontario, just outside of Kingsville Ontario, is Aleksander Estate Winery. This family farm has been producing wine for over 30 years. Enjoy a charcuterie board and wine tastings while enjoying the vineyard views.
Early Acres Estate Winery
- While not officially a part of the EPIC Wineries, Early Acres Estate Winery located in Chatham, Ontario is a cozy and quaint winery nestled just outside of town. With a diverse selection of wines, this is a hidden gem off the typical Windsor-Essex wine tour.
