As we enter 2022 the Windsor real estate market will once again heat up. For some first-time home buyers they are experiencing the market and searching for Windsor homes for the first time. If you are thinking of buying a house, be sure that you are ready for the extra responsibilities that come with home ownership.⁠ This is especially important for first time home buyers. Put simply, owning a home means that your work is never truly done, there is always something else you can do. Items may include basic maintenance like pulling weeds, landscaping upkeep, cleaning gutters, and so on. It’ll need seasonal maintenance and checks as well, such as gutter cleaning, roof inspections, and general exterior maintenance and touch-ups. Finally, there are the big tasks that are inevitable. Think roof replacement or heating and cooling upgrades.

There will always be something that requires not only your time and attention but also your money. Before you buy, be sure that you are ready and willing to take on these tasks. That means having the time, energy, and resources to properly devote. For some this means shifting the responsibility all together. One option is to hire people who will take care of these things for you. This option can prove to be costly. ⁠You can also consider low-maintenance living like a townhome or condo. A monthly fee will take care of all these things, big or small. 

 

There is no right or wrong answer. Simply, you just need to analyze your own situation and ensure that you’re able to do it yourself, you're able to pay to have it done, or you buy a different type of home that has fees to cover everything, big or small.
