  1. Take the Blinders Off
    • While the region has seen an increase in inventory, there are still many looking for houses that haven’t had success in the past so the competition can remain high. It is important to control what you can, your mortgage and pre-approval, your credit history and score, and your budget.   2. Not Being Prepared To Act
    • That increased competition means you need to act quickly and decisively. If you find a home that is right, don’t hesitate, make an offer. If you are on top of the ball, you’ll be in a better position to get that home.
  3. Missing the Red Flags
    • It is warm, the weather is nice, the house is all done up and looking its best. Like a used car, you always need to take a “look under the hood”. That means getting an inspection and making sure any potential problems, some costly, are not being hidden by the warm and dry weather. Some homes in today's market come pre-inspected with a report readily available, but if it has not been, get an inspection before you buy a home with a cracked foundation.
