A nearly $300-million investment in Windsor by a Canadian owned, global leader in the manufacturing of exterior and structural automotive parts was announced on Thursday.
Minth Group will make Windsor it's next strategic location. They announced and unveiled plans for their new 379,415 sq. ft. plant located at 5000 Cabana Road East on surplus airport land. Their new plant is expected to create nearly 1,100 direct jobs for Windsor. Minth Group is a global leader in manufacturing aluminum, steel, and plastic components for electric and hybrid vehicle battery trays, structures, and exterior trim. Their new Windsor operations plant is part of their plan in expanding Minth’s presence in North America along with being a part of our areas growing next-generation vehicle supply chain.
The Ontario government is providing a loan of up to $40 million through the Invest Ontario Fund and the City of Windsor is supporting this investment through their Community Improvement Plan.
The announcement comes as welcome news for Windsor-Essex just one day after the United States announced tariffs involving the automotive industry and Stellantis announced a two-week shutdown at Windsor Assembly.
