After introducing the first 10 red light camreas in 2021 the City of Windsor announced 10 more red light cameras are coming to Windsor intersections. Installation is already underway and once complete there will be a notice period for drivers beofre they are fully operational with the city expecting them fully running in six months. These cameras are intended to change drivers behaviours on the road. While the ticket is not a criminal offence or impact yoru insurance, it will certainly impact your wallet with a red light ticket costing the regisitered plate owner $325.

Here is how the City of Windsor's red light cameras work. "The camera is activated by the traffic signal controller when the signal turns red in a given direction. If the signal is red, the camera will be triggered by the motion of a vehicle as it approaches the intersection. If the vehicle passes the stop bar, the camera will take pictures of the vehicle at a specified interval, and if the vehicle proceeded through the intersection, a ticket will be issued."
