Starting today and running all summer until September 2, 2025, Parks Canada is offering free admission as a part of the Canada Strong Pass. That means admission for all visitors to all national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas operated by Parks Canada along with lockage at canals administered by Parks Canada on historic waterways is free all summer long. The Canada Strong Pass also provides a 25% discount on fees for camping and overnight stays at these locations during the summer.

The Canada Strong Pass means you can access the National Park right in our own backyard free of charge all summer, Point Pelee National Park in Leamington. You can visit the southernmost point of the Canadian mainland and enjoy cycling, paddling, hiking, or enjoy relaxing beach time. You can also visit the recently re-opened Tip Tower. Tip Tower offers stunning panoramic views of Point Pelee National Park. Tip Tower stands 24 metres tall and has 144 steps take you to the top of the tower with stairs wide enough to accommodate traffic up and down the tower. Point Pelee National Park also has a variety of events you can enjoy like the popular Dark Sky Nights where you can stay in the park until midnight and you can enjoy a stargazing experience.

The Canada Strong Pass also provides free entry into national historic sites and Amherstburg is home to Fort Malden National Historic Site. The home of Fort Malden, this national historic site is located on the shores of Detroit River. The fort was a British stronghold along the Detroit frontier during both the War of 1812 as well as the Rebellions of 1837-1838. Initially established in 1796 as Fort Amherstburg, it was the headquarters for the Right Division of the British Army in Upper Canada during the War of 1812. Today, the iconic Fort Malden National Historic Site runs a variety of different daily activities and experiences for guests to enjoy and learn about this historic and iconic Canadian site here in Windsor-Essex.
