This October both Windsor and LaSalle will hold by-elections to fill vacant council seats.
The opening on Windsor city council for Ward 2 was created when Coun. Fabio Costante stepped down to lead the region's social housing agency, he had been the councillor for Ward 2 since 2018.
15 people are on the ballot for the upcoming by-election, here is the list of candidates looking to represent the ward on city council.
The Ward 2 by-election in Windsor will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 with from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ward 2 residents can vote at the following locations:

Following the passing of long-time councillor Sue Desjarlais, the Town of LaSalle called a by-election to fill the vacancy on town council.
7 residents are on the ballot and the winner will only spend roughly a year on council with a municipal election coming in 2026.
The LaSalle by-election will be the first time ever a southwestern Ontario municipality is solely offering online voting. Online voting runs from Oct. 10 at 10 a.m., until Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. and residents can pick-up their voter information letter at the LaSalle Event Centre.
