Every year, the design world turns its eyes to Pantone’s much-anticipated Colour of the Year announcement. This colour selection helps to influence product development and purchasing decisions in industries you would expect like fashion and home furnishings and in the unexpected like industrial design. To chose the colour, a specialized team conducts an in-depth process searching the world for new colour influences from sectors like art, fashion, design, travel, and lifestyle. In addition they consider socio-economic conditions, new and emerging technologies, textures, and even events that capture the world's attention to choose what will best represent the year.
For 2026, Pantone has chosen PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer. This is a sharp departure from the 2025 Colour of the Year, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. According to Pantone, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is "an ethereal white hue and serves as a symbol of calming influence in a frenetic society rediscovering the value of measured consideration and quiet reflection." Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, described this year's choice this way. “PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is an airy white hue that exemplifies our search for balance between our digital future and our primal need for human connection—a liminal space that is a launchpad for creative expression—as individuals and communities are experimenting beyond traditional boundaries, opening the door to increased imagination and innovation."
