Civic Holiday Travel: Tips From the CBSA for the Long Weekend

It's the Civic Holiday long weekend here in Windsor-Essex so people are taking time off from their hunts for Windsor homes for sale and taking off on a vacation to get away for a few days. For some that may mean crossing over the Downtown Windsor Ambassador Bridge or Windsor-Detroit Tunnel into the US. With ever changing COVID-19 rules and requirements, the CBSA has provided some tips to make your travels to and return from the United States as smooth as possible. Check those out below!

Reduce wait times at the border by having all documents prepared and completing the mandatory ArriveCAN submission within 72 hours of arriving at the border.
Print or take a screenshot of your ArriveCAN receipt and bring it with you when you travel in case of data/service issues.
Don’t have a smartphone? You can submit their information by signing in online through a computing device. This includes having someone do it for you if assistance is needed.
Have all your documents ready. This includes your ArriveCAN, Proof of Vaccination and your crossing documents being ready before you get to the booth.
Leave yourself plenty of time! Plan ahead and check border wait times.
Try to cross during non-peak hours if possible, if you are coming home on a Monday of a long weekend be prepared for waits at land borders.
