What's Old Is New: The Windsor Star Newspaper Building

Windsor is home to two amazing post-secondary institutions with St. Clair College and the University of Windsor. As they have grown so has their need for more space for classrooms, resources, and other student amenities. Both schools have elected to expand into Downtown Windsor. The University of Windsor calls a number of iconic landmarks home, but none so more than their redevelopment of one building in particular.

Located at the corner of Pitt Street and Ferry Street stands the School of Social Work and the Centre for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE) for the university. This building has one very unique aspect accompanying its modern aesthetic. This building was once home to the Windsor Star and when the University of Windsor renovated they elected to retain one part of this iconic building, its historic facade. By keeping this feature, they kept a part of the history of our city around and created a breathtaking building that illustrates the past, present, and future of Windsor.
